My next Smoker

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet but the idea is to keep it a lot cheaper then my vertical oil tank build..

I just picked up my 2 barrels that used to have canola oil in them so they should be nice and clean..

As you can see, the queen of the house is inspecting the merchandise

I have a question.....when i cut my oil tank open the panels were under tension and wanted to warp out of place. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this with the drums when cutting doors?

So what I've decided to build is a smoker/grill combo.

Every cylinder I have cut has been under tension whether it be a little or a lot.  I have learned that making cuts using less heat (cutting wheels instead of a torch) tends to minimize this.  I put the door seals on my 250 gal propane tank smoker build today.  While welding them in place I noticed that a couple of my corners were high because of the tension release causing the warp.  I just put my rosebud tip on my acetalyne rig and heated it up.  A couple gentle whacks with my hammer and it was just fine.  I dont know if that would be appropriate for thinner metal such as in those oil drums but thats what has worked for me.
