Hello !
I built my first Pit !
I am frenchy and i wanted to taste smoked meat ! That's why i built mine.
Thanx a lot for your advices !
I am not a good weldman ! I am violonist !
Be indulgent !

So let me explain.

I weld two gaz tank for the CC. Each contained 13kg. It's standard in France.
I use a third gaz tank as FB.
And i cut a mason's prop as chimney.
I only use some Iron pieces that i found in my garden.
It was fun to re-use some old stuff.

I just increased fb/cc, area under rf and opening rf 1.5 Time.

I wanted to test it, so i burnt wood today and i have a nice blue smoke ! Amazing !!!
I have now to built the grate and the drain and
I bought "sealing gasket" on Amazon.

The only problème is about my chimney.
It is paint inside... I used a plumber torch to burn it. The Iron is now blue but i can't see if the paint burnt inside...
Do you think it will be a problem ?
That's why i Asked about sandblasting.
If it's not a problem, i will high pressure watering before seasoning.

it will be better for me because my knee is actually broked and it's complicated for me to put my smoker on my trailer to bring it to sandblasting man !
i will have a surgery on sept the 12. And i absolutly want to taste smoked meat before !!!

if i don't sandblast it, i will paint the outsider with boiled linseed oil.
if i sandblast, i will paint it black.
i hesitate, let me know please.

Here some pictures.
The cc, the fb, the inlets (upper and down)

Thanx for Reading !

Love this! Looks so cool.
What will be your first cook? I have gathered from other posts that the meat you can buy is cut differently. There was a post a while back by someone that moved to France trying to buy a brisket.

Welcome! And we want pics when you do cook something!

Welcome to the forum from Minnesota! Nice job with your smoker! Hope you get the first cook in before your surgery and best of luck with both of them!!

Heck yes! Nice build, and Welcome from Colorado USA!. Personally I wouldn’t worry to much about paint in the exhaust. I like that you have gravel in your guts as a violinist. Nice work there my French friend. I like your build.

WooHoo, a rat rod smoker. I love it!!
You are going to enjoy some great food off of that cooker.
Welcome to the forum, it's a wonderful place to be.
Again, welcome and thanks for the great pics.

Hello !
Thanks a lot for your messages!
I liked them all !

Today, I built my cooking grate and done the drain.

MY cooking grate IS built with my wife's old outside chairs feet !

I've high pressure watered the inside of the CC, weld the rf then i seasoned the inside with sunflower oil.
I also put some sunflower oil on the outside to protect my smoker.
maybe it was not a good idea.... Let see ...

Now I think that I am ready to smoke !!!
I will begin with pork ribs maybe on wednesday !
i Will Ask my butcher for bref ribs !

here some New pics.
