things just didn't go as planned. 10 lb packer brisket that i planned 18-20 hours was done in 13.5. then my fire went out late in the cook on my pork butt. was cooking at 225 and last i had checked the butt was at 175, then 3 hours later the fire was almost out cooker was 130 and the butt dropped to 165 so i relight the fire and bumped up to 275 and now it is back on track.

what a weird cook!!!!

I had a chicken catch on fire once in my mini. Did it the exact same way I've always done it (or at least thought I had), but this one just burst into a huge fireball.

Sometimes weird things just happen for seemingly no reason. Best we can do is try to out think fate and dodge the disasters before they hit.

Good luck on the next one!!

Weird things can happen! I experienced a storm roll in last summer and the temp outside dropped about 35 degrees in 20 minutes and totally screwed my cook up! Nice rebound though!

the brisket has been pulled at 186 double foiled and in the cooler since 7:30 this morning and i just pulled the butt off at 1:45 @ 200 degrees double foiled and into the cooler. now i just wait for guests to arrive and serve at about 4-4:30.. i hope they came out well.

the brisket was a little loose for slicing but not quite to pulling texture and got cool after so many hours in the cooler. the butt turned out just fine. although i like the texture better when i pull it a little earlier, i pulled at 200 today and i normally pull at 190. all in all everyone loved the food. although i did not like the fact that once you pull the pork it cools off to room temp way too quickly. you really have to pull it apart and serve right away.

The great thing about making mistakes is being able to learn from them!

Sounds like you recovered well.  Let's see some pics cause...
