I came across this old picture from 2013 and just had to share..
I just bought my first smoker from Home Depot and finished watching smoke video on how to smoke a brisket. I was so excited to try.. my mother in law( May she rest in piece)
Went out and bought me a 20 lb prime packer for $100. This is a picture of the results..

By the way .. here is the smoker. The brisket was so much money I didn’t want to mess it up. So I cut it in half to cook the second piece next week..
As you can see .. notice the point and the flat in one slice...
I have learned...

I remember by first smoke too. I did a butt thinking it would be done in a couple hours. Smoked it for 4 hours pulled it at 160 thinking it would shred apart lol had no idea what I was doing

Ah, my first smoke. It was a pork tenderloin smoked in an ECB ($39 from KMART). I remember thinking at the time this was the best meat I've ever eaten. There have been a lot of briskets, butts, chick breasts, whole chicks, turkeys, and most any other kind of meat since then. But that first tenderloin is still the best in my mind.

Thanks for sharing.

Sure seems like the first smoke is always like that. My first one, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Just bought a second hand Wally World "Special". Didn't have a clue how to operate it, so just winged it. No idea if I should be using wood or charcoal. The meat was dry, tough, and overdone. But, by God, I enjoyed every last bite of it. LOL
And I was hooked!!
