Wahiawa Hi
Well so far I have accomplished adding vents to the under side of the charcoal pan and adding a grate for the charcoal/wood to sit on. I also lowered the charcoal pan by adding legs. I like it so far, definately helps, now for a thermometer. Seems a lot of people like the ET 732 on here so I think I am gonna order it. Any input/recommendations? Also, seeing as I live in Hawaii and it is quite humid all the time Im thinking about switching to sand for a more steady temp. Anyone with the brinkman smoke n grill have input on this?

For my ECB, I just went to home depot and bought a cheap grill replacement thermometer, drilled a small hole in the lid and screwed it on. I still use a digital probe thermometer on the rack for the true temp.

Well now that I have all the mods done on my ECB  am able to use it more efficently and I did go out and get a grill replacement thermometer as suggested above and it works quite well. I have that thermometer on the outside plus I have an oven thermometer on the inside that I test in my oven each time before I smoke now and it reads pretty dead on. With those two thermometers, it seems I am able to get accurate readings and keep the temp right where I need it. Plus with that el cheapo taylor grilling thermometer to test the internal temp of the meat that I got, I dont even think I need to buy the ET-732. Im wondering if i should just spoil myself (and piss my wife off!) and get a new electric smoker. Hmmm decisions decisions. Any input to help me make a choice?
