...are on clearance at my closest Walmart for 75¢ a can for the 28 oz. cans. This is their diced and crushed organic fire roasted tomatoes. Anyone here ever used them? I figured for that price, I couldn't go wrong. What do y'all think?

Yup good price . I use the other types of Muir Glen . I Stay away from diced tomatoes in general . They have an additive that helps them keep their shape .
I like them to break down when I cook with them . Nothing at all wrong with them if you like to have chunks . At that price , I'd buy some though .

I've used them - they're good and you can't beat that price.

The diced and the crushed are the only 2 that are on clearance. I didn't know about the additive, thanks...

Nothing wrong with it at all . That's a good brand in my opinion and I do buy the other types when on sale .
I'm not against the additive , I just like for tomatoes to cook down when I use them . At that price I would by some for sure .

Since the crushed are on clearance too I'd go for them.
Well they had 4 of each so I grabbed them all. Total was $6.00. I've wasted way more money on things much, much more useless so we'll see. I think they'll be just fine and I'll probably end up wishing that I could've gotten more...

Good deal . I didn't want my first reply to be taken as negative . Kind of been bothering me , so I'm glad you got some .
I do use the canned diced for salsa . There is a dry pack salsa seasoning from Mrs. Wages that's pretty good that I use diced in .
The crushed would be good for pizza sauce .

I didn't take anything as a negative, so no worries there. I did do some research and the additive you spoke of is calcium chloride and it's used to increase firmness just as you said. I never knew that so I learned something new.

As for the salsa mix, I've used the Mrs. Wages several times when I used to can my own tomatoes and it's pretty good. I could always find it at Walmart...
