Moms day

What's everyone doing for mothers day.
No smoke here for a great reason.
Wife wanted some filet and some bbq shrimp off the grill.
Went to see my friend the butcher today.
brought him a couple of packs of CB.
He had some choice filets cut and they looked real nice.
We got to talking and he gave me what i consider the deal of a lifetime.
told me if i would buy a whole loin he would sell me prime for the price of choice.
I told him 1.5 inch filets please!!!! he cut 10 nice filets and i got around a lb of trimmings and the tail ground on the side.
grand total of $60.45.
Got 4 bacon wrapped and seasoned in the fridge for tomorrow and will thaw 2 lbs of 26 - 30 shrimp in the am for bbq shrimp.
Wife better be thinking hard about how she's going to top this on fathers day.

That sounds like a great deal !!! I did about 15 pounds of pastrami today..It's in the fridge cooling down and waiting on the new slicer i got yesterday..Mom wants strami, she gets strami

Plan on doing a shoulder for the first time. Wifey wants pulled pork, cole slaw & Dutch's beans for dinner. Gonna be interesting since this is my first one.

Wife just came in and pulled a bag of strawberries out the freezer . Said she was going to bake some strawberry cream cheese pound cakes for dessert. There goes another 5 lbs.

Uh oh... Caveman has the same menu as I do for my Mom. Gettin' scary, now...

But.. Hey... I have potato salad, too!! HA HA!

I bought the wife a day at the Spa and for the big day I'm putting on 4 pork butts for pulled pork. I'm puting the Treager Texas on auto pilot with a full hopper of Hickory pellets and taking momma to IHOP then to the movies to see Iron man 2. I think I bought her a purse too. Or something like that. She walked in the other days with some shopping bags and a big grin and said thanks for the gifts.

Bob - those cuts of beef made my mouth water. Bet the grill at your house will be smellin' good!! My Mom wanted to go out to a Japanese steakhouse so that's what we're doing.

Eman, that sounds great. Not much here. Took the wife out yesterday to avoid the crowds today...Was going to smoke, but the winds are way up here and temp is down,,,,didn't want to mess with it.

Hmmm,

My "Mom" died in 1992.

My wife is NOT my MOM !

My wife gets her Mother's Day stuff from our son!-----HIS MOTHER !!!!

This year he is taking her (and her sister who is now alone) anywhere she wants to go, like the casino in Bethlehem, and out to eat anywhere.

Yes bear my wife told me the same thing years ago she's not my mom. So I'm left out of this holiday so I'm might be out but my wife gets what my wife want. Sometime I wounder why I spoiled her and then as I sit here watching her sleep I just think of all the ways I do love her for being the mother of our kids.
