Anybody smoke the mock tender steaks and not the roast??? Thinking about trying them on the ole MES 30... these steaks have so many names....

Can't say I've ever heard of anything called mock tender steaks. More details needed.

It's another part of the shoulder , but is a tougher muscle .
Also called chuck tender as a whole before sliced into steaks , not to be confused with petite tender or chuck eye steak , but they are all in the same muscle group .

If you saw the teres major thread I did , I commented that it was marked " chuck tender " I thought it was a roast . Happy to find out it was petite tender .

I may just put some smoke on them and then use them as stew meat with onion, carrots, celery, and taters.

Don't discount parts of the as Stew Meat. The Chuck Tender is not Filet but it is much more tender than Brisket or Round, anything.
We have had many Chuck Steaks that were more tender and juicy than NY Strip!
Cooked no more than medium or med/rare and Sliced thin, that Mock Tender will be great! ...JJ
