Hello,

I got my first smoker 8/9/24 and Instantly fell in love. I now am the proud owner of 2 pellet smokers, 1 verticle smoker, 1 table top smoker and a Black Stone. I am currently refurbishing 2 smokers. I smoke so much that my family kindly asked me last to take a break for a little while, hahaha. Oh I also have a Charcoal grill.

I do live in Minnesota so I am a little worried about what is going to happen when winter comes and how different smoking will be. Any advise would be great.

Nice to meet everyone!
Clara from Minnesota

Welcome! Impressive collection for only smoking for 1 month. You'll fit in great here. If you can go outside to check the smokers, you can smoke thru the winter.

Welcome from the Red River Valley
As far as winter smoking wind is your biggest enemy
I have a welding blanket that goes over my pellet popper to hold in heat. Cold smoking is pretty easy
You burn a bit more charcoal on the grill but not terrible
I make it easy these days as wife and I winter in Florida

Hi Clara, you'll likely find your smoking kindred spirits here. I out-smoked myself a few years ago...woke up and determined everything under the sun doesn't need to taste like smoke!

I appreciate smoked food even more now though, because its "special" once again.

Hello from RI.

As already mentioned a welding blanket can help, especially on the vertical smoker.

Depending on what part of Minnesota you're from. We probably have similar weather in Vt. I'll give up before my WSM or Kettles do. Like mentioned above you'll use a tad more fuel, and the wind is a bitch to deal with.

Welcome aboard glad to have ya join the fun.

Chris

Welcome from Kentucky!

While I'm sure y'all get colder temps in Minnesota, it gets plenty cold here in winter, too, and I smoke right on.

I keep my pellet smoker inside the doors on one end of my pole barn (covered with a welding blanket) and crack the doors to let the smoke out. I have a heated shop in the middle of the barn to keep warm in while cooking.

Well, that sure escalated quickly huh Clara? lol.

I'm in Northern British Columbia and certainly smoke less in the winter. The pellet poopers use up a lot more pellet, but like others have said, a welding blanket helps keep the heat in.
