Ok, thank you very much tallbm tallbm
I did the rewire and tested that the element was heating up. It did (a little slower than I thought it would, but it did). My wiring was different but I figured it out (see pics). Now I'll order the Auber!!

Congrats on the rewire!!!
Yeah your braided wires are red and blue. As long as you go smooth white to braided and smooth black to braided, you have completed the rewire!

Soon you will be full blown PID operating :D

Lol it was so long ago now aye, and thanks!
The whole reason I started this thread was to help because when I came across all the MES issues there were only bits and pieces of info that had to be searched out and sandwiched together but still didn't give the full picture. My hope was that others would find this and get the help they need.

I think this thread has been doing some folks well and I'm glad they can make their MES soooo much better and keep it running damn near forever :D

Do the element and the connections , keep it out of the weather and it most likely will go forever . I know one thing . It has more time left on this earth than I do .
Hahhaha yeah! If I were to solder everything, wow would it last forever. I mean my element COULD be replaced since I know the insulation on it is likely the reason it trips GFCI breakers but it operates with no other issue and I have a non GFCI plug I plug it into so I'm just waiting for a big failure to occur before I mess with it :D

Outside that it's going to go forever since I have it out of the elements in it's own little shed to keep the elements off it :D

I changed out my element . When I did I had to re calibrate the Auber .
Must heat up different or something .
I normally just do sausage and hams in mine , but with all the rain I've been doing whole muscle meats . Fantastic .

I'm kinda bummed though. I just got a great cover for the MES last year. Heavy duty, easy on and off. When I put the mailbox mod on though I won't be able to use it.
Any ideas?
