MES heating element bad connector question

My MES quit working during a smoke and lo behold, one of the connector was fried. I cleaned off the element and it seems like its in good condition. The question I have is rather then getting another wiring connector, can I just solder the wire directly to the element and heat shrink it? Would that lessen the chances of failure in the future or should I just use the same wiring connection? I guess if it doesn't work, I'll order a new heating element and use the supplied connection. Would wiring upgrade be worth my time as well just to be safe? Any input would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hard to say.  I had one that was toasted a bit but still usable.  I would try to repair it first and then replace if necessary, but that's just me.  Make sure that you heat shrink it well to prevent possible shorting.  It does tend to get pretty warm in that little box where the connection is located.

I fixed my MES by simply buying a female tab connector from Home Depot and cleaning the heck out of the heater connections as it was slightly corroded.  I've smoked twice now and it's working good as new. Mine didn't have screws in the back so I had to drill out and replace them with machine screws.

Heating appliances usually clamped,crimped or screwed. Solder would probably melt.
