Menards pitboss smoker

Can someone help me? On my pitboss smoker if i set it to the smoke setting it goes to 300+degrees regardless of what i do it gets way to hot? It use to hang around 150 to 180. Now it just shoots to 300 and stays there or will keep climbimg

My guess would be a bad thermocouple. I don't have a Pit Boss but I have replaced that on a couple other pellet cookers that would not hold temp and it fixed the problem.
