I take a few meds daily, one is $0.80 per pill on the best deal I found - Kroger Health Saving Club. which is awesome. through insurance it was more than twice that. I take 4 per day...so it adds up fast!

My Cardiologist is hooking me with Cost Plus Drug Company https://costplusdrugs.com. that same med above is $0.47 per pill. saving over $500/year.

the other 4 meds I take, 2 are cheaper on Cost Plus, and 2 are cheaper at Kroger.

If you have crap ins, or are on ACA ins with poor medication coverage (that my deal), consider these options. CP-free, Kroger $36/year. No need to pay more for the same thing! good luck!

I'll be looking at both of those for next year! I already know 4 of my 5 are only $4 a month via Kroger. Thanks for posting this before and now sharing the cost plus. Looked up the 5th and cost plus will be the best deal.

Also check out GoodRx. I believe that there's also another 'coupon' type prescription drug discount program.

yeah...my car and home insurance agent drives a Porsche...met with a health ins broker who drove a Rivian SUV (dumped him was a a douche). pretty confident i would choose a different career path if there was a second round. I did well enough to retire early, but my banker friends have it easy.

I got insurance for the first time in some years in 2024. I use the Harris Teeter pharmacy (same as Kroger nowadays), have been for years because I always paid out of pocket for meds. Turns out they dont participate with my insurance which is a well known regional medical organization.

At first GoodRX was how I got my deals, then that started to get flaky, but HT has or found a different discounter that saves me about the same money. So, I dont even use insurance to buy meds (I'm down to one now anyway), but next year I will be using my HSA. This year I maxed it out with medical procedures.

What's funny is how many insurance salesmen smoked when I was younger and how many ashtrays we had with insurance companies names on them!

Quit smoking in early 2000, didn't mention to the agent till 10 years latter that I had quit, he took a swab of my mouth and rates dropped pretty good. Would have saved a lot had I made it known a lot sooner. GoodRX is what the wife uses to help save$$

Fortunate to not be on any big pharma meds. My Medicare part D is free
The only way to level the playing field is to get our self anointed elite (politicians and other feds) to be on the same plans. Also Canadian meds are cheaper because the lawyers are cut out of the lawsuits.

I'm on several expensive drugs and haven't been able to find cheaper options the worst is an injectable blood thinner Eliquis and that whole family of drugs doesn't work on me. I got 3 blood clots while on them one in a lung and two in my lower leg that required surgery. Had a third clot in the lower leg on another blood thinner but it didn't require surgery.

Didn't mean to kill the thread. I haven't found any discounts on the really expensive meds I take. Am covered under the wife's insurance from her work but I turned 65 this year and am looking at Part D plans some of them don't seem to cover some drugs. About all I have figured out is that Part D plans have a $2000 out of pocket max and while not what I want to pay but guess it's better than the full costs

You didn't kill it at all. Hoping you can find discounts as well. Did you look yours up on Costplus or Kroger?

It’s highly variable as to what I found discounted and what not. My wife is on Medicare and she gets a better deal on everything compared to ACA…but she has to do the mail order to get the with her plan

Damn, I feel for all of you having to work thru the system(s). I was blessed to work for the government for most of my years. After retirement I am able to keep my insurance for life as long as I pay my share.

Don't get me wrong, it's not cheap, the coverage has doubled since I retired and the meds aren't free either but discounted.

Our 25 YO niece that we have taken in is on a crazy amount of drugs and she was uninsured until this week when we got her on medical. Not sure how that will workout yet since my wife is doing all the work on it. Hopefully they will take on some of the cost.

what I have experienced is work ins and Medicare ins are very good. ACA, not bad, but many variables. if I want good medical, drugs are a PITA...and such. I think really depends on what you need/take. I have a buddy that is on zero meds. so he has it easier. I am willing to do what ever it takes so save on cost.

For folks that are on a Medicare Part D plan, you have until 12/7 to change plans for 2025 if you want. It is a good idea to look every year. Prescriptions change, some insurance companies change premiums etc. Log into medicare.gov it is pretty easy.

We're on Wellcare Value Script Prescription Drug Plan
John that is the plan Medicare.gov gave me. In the first 2 or 3 months it will cost me 1980 something dollars and since there's a $2000 out of pocket max the rest of the year will be zero out of pocket. The wife is much easier no meds for her
