Maui, Hi.
Does anyone have an opinion of the meat slicer that The Sausage Maker is selling that goes for about   $385.00?   I'm thinking of getting a slicer for my bacon and pastrami Smokes.  Any recommendations for a good medium duty slicer?  Thanks

I know I have a cabela's meat grinder and they are really good. they have a meat slicer as well that I will go with if I cant find a good used commercial at a steal. they are like 399. its the commercial one they sell, its better than the home models. and usually they are built by reputable companies. I believe these are made by weston because weston has a model that is pretty much identical just with a different label. may want to check those out and compare. I have been more than satisfied with the cabela's brand stuff.

I might try E-bay or craig's list for a slicer first. Unless you want a brand new one but you can fine new slicers at E-bay too. You shoukd be able to save some money.

Here is one I got on Craig's list.

None of the so called heavy duty home units can touch it.
yep I'm picking one up this afternoon(unless the deal falls through) that I scored on craigslist. Not quite the deal you got on the globe, but its a berkel for 500. Its one of the higher end commercial slicers. the guy said theres no way one person can carry it, he said it takes at least 2 people to move it. I am pumped up to get this thing. And couldn't have come at a better time, got 25 lbs of bacon curing as we speak

Very cool Guys....I am also trying to get a used Globe but they are few and far between.  New ones go for about 800 here.
