Reading what you're going through with the frustration, the
WSM, which was the recommendation of some in here earlier, might be a better option at this point.
It is arguably at the very least, deserving of another look and further consideration in light of the developments and your desires to start smoking food with a good charcoal burner.
As mentioned, the
WSM is not mechanical or electronic and so problems such as this problem that you are having with the MB are non existent with the
WSM.
Finally, while it is understandable that MB may be having shipping problems, it may be hard to justify letting their shipping problem become your problems.
Who knows when you will get what they are sending? MB themselves don't even know. They cannot even tell you.
Sending it back to
Amazon and ordering the
WSM, may be worth looking into at this point, but whatever you decide, good luck and hopefully you can get to using a new smoker sooner rather than later.
