Hey all been a while since I posted, but I get real busy all summer, plus it's kind of too hot to make sausage, but any how here in Pittsburgh at the restaurant depot they put boneless porkbutts on sale for $1.29 lb case price, so I had to pick up a case for the up coming sausage season, plus I am completely out of keilbassa, so I spent yesterday cutting up the 67.70lb case of butts and 16lb of back fat I picked up at the local butcher shop and ground it all up for sausage, today I am making 25lb of keilbassa I got every thing all mixed stuffed and on the drying rack, started to prepare the old trusty maverick et-732 found the probes and reciever, couldnt fine the transmitter for the life of me, went out on the back deck to the  MES30 to look cause about 2 weeks ago I smoke a chuck roast for dinner when I noticed that the pool water test kit was laying on the deck, I figured our goofy cat was up there and it knocked it off, then it hit me over the weekend we had some high winds and some heavy rain, and I probably left the transmitter on top of the smoker, I looked over the deck and there it was laying on the ground probably close to a 10ft drop to the ground and  where it landed was right where the roof dumps the water to the ground, went down  and picked it up of course both of the plugs were out of it so the input jacks were wide open, I looked and there was water inside of the digital read out, I tried to shake out the water and it came on accidentall, I plugged in a probe and it gave a whacky reading, so I figured well damn it's broke, what am I going to do I had 25lb of sausage ready for the smoker and no easy way to monitor it, so with nothing to lose I got out the little jewelers screwdriver set and started into it, it came apart fairly easy, alot of lil screws tho had to keep my eye on those, I broke it down to just the main board I took it in the house and broke out the wifes hair dryer, and on a low heat low fan setting I tried to blow air into the input jacks and the LCD screen is in the front cover i blew some heat on that for a while too trying to get the water out of the LCD, I put it all back together and  IT WORKS I really thought I was looking at a pile of junk, after I am done with it today I am putting it in a bag of rice until the next time I need it....

Peace,

Harry

Things to keep in mind.

I don't leave my transmitters and receivers outdoors.  But I do have a bad habit of leaving the probes out and cleaning them before the next smoke.  No problem?  Until I tried that in the winter here, where it is mild but very foggy and humid.  Pit probe takes it OK, but the ET 732 meat probes don't like that even a little bit.

That is what I got for being lazy after a long smoke. A little money and great service from Todd straightened up my attitude real quick.

Good luck and good smoking.

I've had two Mav 732s. neither of them were ever mistreated in any way.

Both receivers died on their first cooks.

May I say,    Junk ??? !!!!!!!!!!!

Denny.

Sorry you had a bad experience - I have forgotten mine outside for a week when I was out of town on business and it rained the entire week. Still fired up the first time. You must have just gotten a couple of bad ones
