Masterbuilt sportsman elite propane 30 inch chip tray

Hey there I absolutely cannot stand the chip try in my smoker. Can anyone provide me with some advice for a diy fix, or maybe an aftermarket chip tray that would work with this smoker? I'm getting pretty good smoke out of it, it's really just a pain to refill with chips when it's hot, and it seems to go through the chips really fast. If I'm not careful the chips catch fire too.
