Masterbuilt Rewire for auber pid

Anybody ever rewired a newer masterbuilt smoker to run an auber pid. I have a two black wires, a red, and a white. Trying to figure out what wires need to be wired together for the auber to take over.

Im no sparky but I would think.
Red=hot
White= common
2 black=switch (on/off)
But I don't know that for sure. I'd wait for someone with more knowledge to respond. Also pictures might help of where you are trying to land these wires.

@normanaj Beat me to it! @bszum2 Throw up some pics. Wire color is only part of it. Make sure you can ID the "braided" wires. Those go to the element.

I think that's the one that you just have to bypass using the plugs in the harness .

Perfect I’m up and running. I’m about 10-12 degrees higher than set temp. My pid numbers are 7,208, 210. Any info on tweaking would be helpful!

Same as me.I'm not at home so I can't check my settings at the moment but here is a thread that can certainly get you going.

This has come up numerous times so I figured I would try and write a simple "how to" for doing Auber PID time, temp, and P-I-D settings. Auber makes a great PID, however their documentation and instructions are technical and also likely written by someone that isn't very strong with organized...

Keep in mind that in stock form they can run 30 degrees over , and 30 degrees under .

My pid numbers are 7,208, 210. Any info on tweaking would be helpful!

Some of this will depend on probe location . You're gonna be off some , just nature of the beast .

Is this a 30 or a 40 ? Those numbers may have come from my original set up for a 30 . Probe centered through the back wall .

Does it settle in at 10 over ? ( that's pretty good really )

Pick your setting for P . Lets just say you're going to use 7 .
Pay attention to how much it over runs on startup , or how long it takes to get to temp .

To slow getting to temp , Lower your " I " setting .

To much over run ,, increase the " I " setting .
Don't adjust to much at once . Just a couple numbers at a time .
So 208 is taking to long to get to temp , change it to 206 , and retry .
or ,
208 is running over 10 degrees ,, change it to 210 .

Don't change multiple settings at once . Do 1 value at a time and retry .

Several ways to do it if you just want get close , but if you want to fine tune , pick your setting for P and leave it . Then tune with I .
Once you get that set , move on to D .

D controls the recovery from temp drop . Like opening the door .
Larger number is a faster / more aggressive action .
