Yep, both my wife and I have taken a bit of skin off over the years using a mandoline!Just remember to always wear safety gloves with those things! I wont even pick one up with out them.
That is GOOD advice!Just remember to always wear safety gloves with those things! I wont even pick one up with out them.
Which one do you have ? I was looking at the hand held one .The OXO is a pretty decent mandoline.
I have the chef's 2.0,I don't remember what I paid for it but it wasn't cheap.I'm pretty sure I saw it on ATK so that's why I got it.Which one do you have ? I was looking at the hand held one .
That's pretty cool looking Brian
Sold ! Be here Monday .I have the chef's 2.0,
I watched a video. Makes kind of short fries but it looks like it works pretty good. Making fries was one of the bad accidents I had. Potato got caught in the first blades and my hand kept going into the main blade. Ouch! I think I might order while black Friday deal.
$65 .What did you end up paying?
we got this simple OXO many years ago. still great. ditto on the gloves. I'm on blood thinners and nipped a knuckle and it was a blood bath. endup having to some of that "wound cement" to stop the bleeding. now only mama is allowed near it.I've been thinking about getting a mandolin for a while and I figured I might as well put it on my Christmas list.
Does anybody use them and what brand do you use?
I believe it, I feel the same way about my food processor blades. Made a nice slash in my finger washing itJust remember to always wear safety gloves with those things! I wont even pick one up with out them.
We have the old school model. Looks like they bulked up the safety guard on the new one.Hand held from Pampered Chef is what I use. It stores away easy and makes quick work of any vegetables.
