There are some weird ones that are very good. Triggerfish and ocean tally, for example. Very white and firm. Not much like other fish.

Nurse shark is supposed to be excellent, but no one wants to try it.

Wahoo is wonderful. Bright white, firm, and not fishy.

I always wanted to eat a sailfish, because people say they're great, but if you even bring it up, people act like you want to kill Nemo.

People in the US won't eat barracuda, but if you show up at a dock in the Bahamas with one, the locals will be happy to grab it. They don't fear ciguatera.

I think the most overrated fish is swordfish. Or catfish.
Wahoo is awesome eating fish, Sailfish is a big nope for me, it's way gamey tasting too my taste buds. I've caught hundreds of them, and if one gets gill wrapped or gut hooked it's saved for the local's, because I ain't eating it.
(Same goes for Marlin). I won't even eat them smoked.

I used to spend 3 weeks to a month at a time either in Cabo, Los Barrios, or Zihuatanejo Mexico each year with 10 to 14 of my buddies, we fished every other day, it was way worse than wild.
(I'm surprised I still have a liver, to be honest with you, it was absolutely nuts).

Great times, this was my pre marriage days, I didn't get married until I was 38yrs old, mainly because I was still rip'in it up with my bud's, hunt'in, fish'in, fighting, and another word that starts with "F" that if I typed out would surely get me banned.🤬🤣

I used to eat a lot of big Pacific barracuda when I lived in and fished out of San Diego, CA.
No Cig worries with them, not even the big ones aka Logs as we called them.
But most folks considered them trash fish, no good for eating only good for the fight / sport.
But they are great for ceviche and grilling.
Mmmmmm Cuda Ceviche, pass the tortilla chips!

Fishing off the California coast in the past I caught a few barracuda. The bloodiest fish when you catch them. I tossed them back since I was more interested in Yellow fin or Mahi Mahi.

I think I caught more beers than fish. Luckily I never got motion sickness.
