Since flat tops seem to be getting high praise from this site and my buddy I’ve been thinking about picking one up. Only problem is I don’t know jack about them. It will be for a family of 4 And occasionally have smaller get togethers. What do you guys think is a good size/ brand for that? I see a lot of black stone, camp chef, char grilled and next grill. Are those some of the more popular brands?

I bought a 28" Blackstone with the hood a couple months ago. But it's just the wife and me. I'd probably go with the 36 if there were more of us.
I like the hood and also the rear grease drain. I do not know anything else about the other brands, but Camp Chef seems popular also

I would get the 36” no matter which brand, also a lid that can be put on while it is still hot, forgetting to cover after cool down leads to rust, yes I have done that lol, built a lid for mine and no more forgetting, I have the original 36 “ blackstone with no lid and front grease drain they are more refined now

I just bought a Blackstone Pro-series 28" in May. I really like the attached lid and the cabinet assembly underneath. I have a family of 5 and haven't run out of space with this thing yet. May need to move things around a little more, but I have no regrets with getting it over the 36". Though it only has two burners, they are in an H configuration, so it's actually 4 burners on 28".

Be prepared to go through propane though! I have a few cylinders that I can rotate out, but they do eat the gas. I'm getting to know the folks at U-Haul on a first name basis for the propane ......

I have the Camp Chef 36" model and love it. It does have the front grease trap but the thing is built study as hell and no problems out of it whatsoever. Turned out some pretty tasty stuff! Lots of people have the smaller tabletop Blackstone's that love them too. Whichever way you decide to go they are so fun and versatile I don't think you can go wrong.

22" Blackstone added cover. Only 2 of us, was originally looking at 28" Pro like Jake's. Very good quality. Camp Chefs are a little more money but highly regarded .

I had the camp chef ftg 600 and it was a good unit until a flood destroyed the lower part of it. I still have the cast iron top. My father got the new Blackstone 36 with the air fryer built in and I have to tell you it's the top of the line. It has a hinged lid and drawers for air frying. On top of the great features it just looks super sexy! I believe the only place you can get them is walmart. It's real hard to get one as they are super popular. If I was looking for one I would move heaven and earth to get this one. Best design I have seen period.

I kicking myself for not buying the Pro. Wish I could find a lid that would attach like that to my 28"
I have a friend who also has the 28" model and was looking for a doomed lid.
I called Blackstone and asked. I was told model specific such as the Pro Series. They do not sell for standard 28". Something about the mounting is for Pro only. Don't know if you would have to show proof of registration or something (liability reasons) if said had damaged pro series lid and then fabricated ???

If you’re looking for a super heavy duty commercial unit Cooler Depot sells/ships this 48” monster for $1,000. Just bought it to replace my 36”.

I have the Blackstone 22" I find it plenty big enough for 2 people. And I'd think for 4 people. The only thing I've found out is they do like the propane. I got the adapter hose to use a 20 pound tank.

oh its more portable and many different sizes and heavy with heat plate on bottom and i have used on camp pits or coal ect i use flax seed oil after i let cool and wipe with paper towels. fax seed oil does go rancid like veg oil.

I love my Camp Chef Flat top 600. I use it all the time and one thing I really like about it is the removable top. It's like getting 2 grills in one. I just remove the top and I have a gas grill. It's great using the grill portion for doing extra sides and such, when my KJ and Traeger are full.
