Trying to find good deal on door gasket. Local BBQ shop wants 5$ per foot lol and I ain't paying that when I need 11.5'. I bought it for my firebox door but that was a small amount. Looking for 1" or so thanks a lot in advance. Put part of my hinges on and got most of my door done today and need the gasket before welding it in place.

Thanks. Should I trust the adhesive kind by itself or does it need some extra help with the BBQ safe silicone that I have?

Thank for the quick response Dave. That would definitely hold it in. I called around a little more today at fireplace shops and a guy told me to try ace. .99 cents per foot for 3/8 and 1.50$ for 1/2" so I got that and hopefully I can get the door on tomorrow. Just need to get a thermometer too. The ones at ace were all set up for a thin door not 1 3/4 like mine. Are the true tells setup for thick door? Be nice to get one that's even bigger so u can see it from inside easier.

The Tru-Tells I use have NPT..   I turn them so the temp I'm trying to maintain is "UP"... or "LEFT" etc...  then I can see the needle and don't have to see the numbers...  Close enough for me..  I do have to make sure I'm wearing my far seeing glasses and not my readers...

1 3/4" thick door ????

Great point Dave, mine is at 6 position, at a quick glance I can see if im still running in the ballpark. Functionality over aesthetics. If your door is 1 3/4" you'll go with a long stem 1/2" npt and tap door or weld a coupling to mount.

Thanks guys. Npt makes it even easier nice. Dave the door frame is 1.5" 16 gauge stainless and the exterior skin is 1/8 sheet and roxul safe and sound insulation. Been building it over a year and should be done in the next couple weeks or less

Looking forward to seeing it.

I've got a thread on it in the reverse smoker forum. Called "stainless smoker build" I think, pry at bottom of page or page 2

Bbqgaskets.com used many times with excellent service and fast shipping

I used them too and very satisfied with my insulation mod. I used the tadpole material on my firebox lid and the Fireblack for my cooking area. Nice tight seals all around
