I always talk about my grill, but never show it. I figured I would show it tonight with a few turkey burgers. Burgers overcooked while I was photographing but were saved by some cheddar and gouda cheese.

100 bucks on Amazon BUT.... continuely check back on offers starting at in the small print. Sometimes Amazon sells grills with dented boxes for cheap. Knowing that you cant really damage this cast iron tank, I took a risk and bought it for 30 bucks. Great for reverse sears like my tri tip or in the case of the ribs, a smoke and sear.

30 bucks! Stole it! The best deer camp meal I ever had was elk steak on one of those.They are real nice grills.
 
I bought Lodge Hibachi a couple of years ago and really like it. I use the same lump charcoal I do in the BGE's. Simply dump in the charcoal in the Hibachi squirt in an ounce or so of denatured alcohol and light. No chimney started required.

These are great steak/burger makers!
 
I’m going to fire mine up for the first time tonight. Bought it off Craigslist. Guy used it once and decided they didn’t like the hassle of charcoal. Thing looks like it was never used.
 
Mine is 20+ years old. One nice feature of these is, you can easily remove the cooking grate and use it to crush a cheap stamped-tin shitihibachi when you drive a truck over it.
 
The grate is reversible. Flip it upside down for a hotter, harder sear.
 
I love my little grill. If I am car/vehicle camping, I have taken it many times with me. Here are antelope backstrap and oryx meatballs.

This grill has worked great for a few years, but unfortunately, it has seen better days. My cast iron grill is covered in rust. Anyone know any tricks to removes rust from a grill? I pressure washed the grill. That somewhat helped, but then it rusted again as it dried in the sun before I could oil it. I have heard vinegar. Anyone suggest CLR?
 
I love it and have wanted to grab one for quite a while. I don't need it but I do need it haha
 
That happened to me once. Thought the weather was going to be nice. So, I left it outside. And forgot about it on the back deck. It rusted up pretty bad too. I sprayed with a rust remover and used a wire brush to remove the rust. Then washed with soup and water. And I immediately fired it up to get it dry. Then disassemble. And seasoned in the oven. They are great little grills.

Yeah , you have to get it right away . Pans are easier to do that with , but wash it again . Dry the best you can and get oil on it . Even if it's not rust free . Could maybe use spray oil for this , until you get it cleaned up .

I personally stay away from a wire brush , at least to start . I will use a sanding sponge .
Might take a while to get it cleaned up , but it will . Do a section , wipe it off and spray it . Do the whole thing , then start over .
Like Steve mentions above get it to that point and reseason in the oven .

I found a 4 qt. camp oven of my Dad's . Looked like it was coated in cosmoline .
Guess who had the bright idea to run it in the dishwasher ?
What a mess .
 
It's more involved, but no elbow grease required. You could use electrolysis like the cast iron restore folks do. It WORKS. comes out looking like it just came out of the casing mold. But you still have to get oil on it right away.
