My drum has a lid that had a band clamp. I got the band clamp. I got the lid all set up with my handle and exhaust ect. I also scraped and burned the gasket out of the lids lip. The lid fits fairly tight. If one side is seated on the drum the other side will stick up a tad unless you press it down to seat it. Is this desireable? I don't want a lid that when I remove it to check my food I got to yank really hard to get it unseated. I also don't really want to beat and bang up my drum trying to persuade the lip a little. What should I do if anything? Also when I do my initial burn (this was an oil barrel) once the fire is raging, should I put the lid on with exhaust open? I got my 3 1" holes in the bottom so plenty of air hould draft through.

I realize I got about half a dozen threads started with various questions. I hope I am not annoying anyone. Maybe I should have started a master thread that I could keep posting questions to??

Leave lid off during the burnout. It will get a lot hotter .
my lid warp some during the burnout. I put my knee in the middle of the lid and pulled on both side until it fit on the drum .
If you have a question that didn't get answer just PM me and I will see if I can help with it
