lawn tractor question(i know this is a smoking forum)

I don't know if i'm supposed to post these questions but I have a craftsman 2 917.254320 16hp 5 speed 44 inch deck, i'm looking for a parts manual or parts number or a site that might sell this part, I think it's a spindle or mandrel, this is a old machine and parts are hard to find. I know this is an off the wall question but I tried mower forums and they don't seem to be much help so I figured what the hell try smf I always get answers here. thanks

I usually look for parts on this website. According to the diagram it looks like the jackshaft or mandrel which seem to be discontinued.

it's a jackshaft, yea I did try those sites discontinued, also tried jacks small engines. thanks

thanks everyone I might of found the parts on ebay, waiting for the seller to get back to me to make sure they will fit my mower, if not there is another company called Oregon products that carries them in case anyone else is ever in this situation.

That's a pretty good outfit---Oregon products.
I got 3 blade spindles from them for my first Cub, and they included a Free Mower blade.

bear did they ship to you directly, their site says they only send to dealers, I did email them to find out. just in case the ones ebay aren't the right ones.

They did at that time, but they actually shipped it from a different facility, from I forget what state. One was the main facility & the other wasn't. That's all I remember. CRS

It owes you nothing. Retire the poor thing.

Spend good money on these parts, only to have something else fail.

Go to a local dealer, not a big box store. Big box stores can't service what they sell. They farm it out to whom ever answers there call.

My SIL had a similar part failure today on an old Sears Tractor. Coincidence or some kind a of Black Ops Sabotage to get Sears out of dept?......JJ

not sure how old she is tried to figure out with craftsman calculations but it doesn't work out , this is the serial #1747s04743 first 2 #'s are supposed to be month, then the day and then the year, I told the wife we'll get a new one but she likes this one, mine is 3 years old, I think I did fine the 3 parts on ebay all for 79.99, the 2 secondary spindles and the 1 primary. for 80.00 bucks i'll give it shot. I do agree with you though to take it out and shoot it!!

not sure how old yours is but if it's to old sears probably discontinued the parts, if need be check out Oregon small engines, or sten's or ebay where I found the best deal, amazon also has a lot parts.
