Here's an idea I came up with several years ago when re-modding the Kitchen:

instead of getting a lot of expensive ceiling material , we simply got some Corrigated Sheet Metal and covered the Ceiling, tried to get used metal but what we found was way too crappy. this is gonna Pitina nicely...

Kind a gives the kitchen an old school diner sort of look.

I have been wanting to do this same thing to the walls in my kitchen.  Before we purchased the house...some idiot painted over wallpaper.  It's awful!  I am going to show this to my hubby and see what he thinks!  I LOVE this!
