Nice! Good call, mine needs to be replaced too..it’s been a few years and getting pretty rough!
You definitely don't want a vane to break off while adjusting in the middle of a cook! Use a standard utility knife blade, a heavy duty blade doesn't flex/contour as well. Also blunt or round the outer points of the blade. This one could have used more. I was all out of Brillo/scouring pads or I would have made it look brand new, less the rust spots where the leg sockets were welded. Still can I suppose. This kettle is ~ 25 years old and had the original setup with a thumb set screw. A much better design, as the replacement doesn't pull the vanes as tight to the bottom of the kettle :emoji_disappointed: so a shim washer is still in order.

Nice work . Now you need those handles .
Heh, I didn't take them off before getting them wet with the hose or they'd be in their second coat of spar varnish right now. Hindsight 20/20. Paddling season 🛶 is quickly coming, hopefully I can get them done soon....

I never had luck getting any color back into the stock handles . Get them sealed up with some finish and you're good to go .
