Hey guys. So I have this Kettle that was given to me and all I have done was throw some briquettes in and cook and sometimes some wood chunks. I was going to rinse the lid down and just happened to look underneath which I don’t I ever have because I set it on a umbrella stand when I need to maneuver. Is this just years of cooking smoke peeling off? I can’t imagine it’s paint, no way It’s paint. Scrap that crap I assume right? Dumb question but I’m prepping the Kettle, Genesis and pit boss for the weekend. Thank you in advance.

That's normal especially using wood . I have a stiff brush I keep by my kettles . I use that to get rid of it .

I use a small plastic putty knife to knock it off. Kettles are porcelain coated so it's definitely not paint peeling.

I believe it is carbon build up, not a problem at all. Here is the brush I use to knock it off. Just a tire scrub brush. I use it to sweep out the ash too.
