I have been grilling for a long time and recently (three months ago) got the Slow n Sear add on for my 22" Weber kettle. It works really well and I have done some long smokes using it.

But then I started reading a lot on the web about pellet grills and spent the last month researching them and watching countless videos and find the concept of not having to baby the temperature on the grill something to be desired.

I have a Rec Tec RT-700 being delivered today and am looking forward to getting it ready and doing my first few cooks on it.

Congrats on the new rig...

Congrats on your new grill. I'm sure you're going to love it. I started smoking on a charcoal smoker (ECB), then a gasser, then electric, and now a pellet smoker. I can't imagine doing it any other way now. Turns out great Que with no muss and no fuss.

Looking forward to some pix of your fist cook.

congrats on your new smoker, I know you'll love it, I started on a offset smoker, then a mes 30 , recently got a pit boss pellet smoker, they are so simple to use. will still use the mes 30 for my cold smokes and once in a while if I have nothing better to do will fire up the old barrel smoker. good luck on your future smokes.

Congrats on the new rig...

A great first spin is ribs. Then you can kick it up a notch and do a butt, next comes brisket and all the rest. Fair warning, you'll be doing more of the cooking now.[/QUOTE]

Indeed. It has already happened with the Weber this summer. My wife is wondering how she got so lucky.

Congratulations on that new TEC, but remember not to neglect the Weber.
