What's a stay-cation? When you have a vacation but instead of travelling you go to a local resort for your vacation.
Well a popular game show is filming at my place of work and I was asked to play on the employees version of the game. Basically, a dry run for the show using employees of the resort. At first I said no but after being asked repeatedly by a fellow employee to be her partner for the game I said I would it if I had the day off. Well it turned out that I didn't have my normal days off and couldn't do it. But my daughter had gotten tickets to be in the audience for the Saturday taping and because I had that day off I told my daughter I'd go with her to be part of the audience.
So, my work is offering a special deal for employees for that weekend and I jump all over it!!!
My boss calls me up Saturday morning and asks what I was doing that night? I tell him that me and my family were going to be at the hotel for the game show weekend. He then tells me that someone had called in sick and the only guy in the hotel that can cover my day off is going to have to work in another restaurant in the resort.
Needless to say my wife isn't happy!
So I go to work and in the main kitchen my boss comes over and thanks me for coming in and asks what I want to send to my room to thank my wife for letting me work instead of spending time with my family. He had a couple of amenties lined up and some bottled water in a ice bath lined up for my room. I say that that sounds good!
So, I go to my restaurant and do my thing and my wife texts me after she checks in about all the food, snacks, and drinks that have been delivered to my room! She isn't as pissed any more!!! Thanks Chef!!!
I forgot to mention my sister-in-law is a free lance magazine reporter and a local magazine is paying her and her family to be staying at hotel that weekend also to cover the game show...
Anyway, after I get off work I go to my room and my wife is watching the live taping on the hotel channel. The show will be broadcast in early Nov. across the US. I decide I'm gonna go down and check it out for myself.
Here are some pics...
