We had about 8 people over for a small party tonight. It was mostly my wife's Filipino friends looking to have some fun.

I was supposed to smoke some meat but due to the high winds still blazing through So Cal that was out of the question.

Since it was indoor cooking I made a nice chili and Mediterranean rice dish. I made banana pudding for a dessert.

My wife fried up a bunch of fish a the devils veg. Others brought more like pancit an amazing veg and noodle dish. All in it was a good time and everyone had fun dancing and playing karaoke.

For me one of the ladies not only brought me a nice fruit cake from Porto's but three beef tortas. No one on earth makes a better one and she brought me three for my birthday.

The food.

Glad to see you're not directly in the mess. be careful out there.

That pancit looks delicious. We had a Filipino friend who would show up randomly with it because she knew how much I loved it. I wanted to cry when she moved.

We are lucky to be North of most of the fires. The closest one is about 5 miles to the West that is a lightly populated area mostly just brush.

Our area was hit hard a few years ago and burned thousands of acres right up to our housing tract. It only took out a few houses in the tract. It was the same Santa Ana winds. They had shut off the power to the area so some brainiac thought it would be a good idea to smoke his thawing meet. Well the smoker blew over and you can guess what happened next.

This pancit was one of the best ones I have tried. I have had good and bad ones and this was near the top. My wife also makes it well.

Looks good. Happy birthday Chris. Stay safe over there. If they don’t get those fires under control I’m afraid the whole place will end in ashes from the looks of it.
