I use Jeff's Texas Rub on a good many of my smokes, I ended up having to make up a new batch the other day.... I followed the recipe but with one modification which I think took it over the top!!!

Last Christmas I included both some smoked salt as well as some bourbon soaked smoked black pepper......

I replaced the plain coarse black pepper that is called for in Jeff's recipe with the bourbon soaked, smoked product..... I didn't think it would have as profound an effect as it did...... The flavor of the rub was fantastic!!!!

Sounds like nice upgrades on the rub. Ive gotten more into buying premade ones and trying different rubs that way. its the easier lazier route, but its fun. Making my own isnt much cheaper anymore...
