...opening the dang bag of charcoal. Just went out to add more coals and realized I'd have to open another bag. My knees started shakin' , palms were sweatin', knowing that I might once again not be able to figure out which end of the string to pull to get that beautiful zipping sound, only a big red bag or Royal Oak coal can give. But once again I failed.

I figure I'm batting 200 maybe.

UGH!

One thing to say ................ utility knife

yeah, got a knife hanging on my grill. I'm still an optimist and try to pull the string every time. Just thought it was funny, really.

Yea, I try to pull the string too. Get it about 2" and it breaks. Never fails. So, out comes the pocket knife. Not sure why I don't just start with that. I do the same thing with the dog food.

I've opened a lot of feed bags and they are just like sewed piece of cloth. If you look at the loose ends at the edges of the bag; notice which direction the loops face. It works better if you can pull a single thread and it drags the loop out of the next loop and so on and so forth. Your wife can probably show you how this works; or some farmer or livestock feed dealer can. It is pretty simple if you actucally see what you are looking at. I didn't get it over night. My grandfather just said this is how I do it and it seems quicker and easier. ?? Hope this helps.

them little tabs on the foil-saran wrap work better than the strings on charcoal-I just grasp at the edge and rip a hole big enough to see in-if that don't work I break out the pocket knife.

LOL.... ! I had one work...once. Axe, utility knife, steak knife, BB tongs... if I had a bigger box, I'd just toss the whole damm thing in there!

I second agmeyer. I grew up on a farm and opened many a feed and seed bags. They will only open from one end. If you look at the way the thing is stitched together you will find it to be quite simple. Maybe something to look at and pass the time while the meat is on the smoker

LOL!! Thanks for that...just spit Coke Zero all over the keyboard....
Im with dadw4d's pull the strings at both ends of the bag...1 of every 99 bags works...ditto the pet food......

I"m a string-puller too. Maybe it's associated with the pull my finger thing ..
