I saw this mod of yours and thought what a wonderful idea. I've copied the info in the post for Rock to take a look at. I haven't gotten any reply to the email I sent as of yet.

Thanks for the info and I'll definitely contact you should I need any help! Thanks again.

I called Masterbuilt Monday morning and explained that element wouldn't heat up...the rep was very nice and told me they will be sending a new cabinet - minus the door etc and it should take care of the problem. Now the waiting and I have to tell you this is driving me crazy not being able to smoke anything!

Hang in there, Alesia!

Since I got interested in smoking food, I've bought the Sam's Club MES40, a Weber 22.4OTG (used, $25) and built a mini-WSM using a Weber Smokey Joe I already had. Although I don't smoke very often ('cause there's just the 2 of us and almost anything cooked is big enough for lots of meals), I think I'd suffer withdrawal if I couldn't fire one of 'em up.

Here's hopin' that UPS brings you a working replacement sooner than they said!

:grilling_smilie:

I have a gas/charcoal grill but just not the same as a smoker. And you are right...I'm going absolutely insane not being able to smoke. I'm going to get a short fix tomorrow and smoke some hard boiled eggs to devil for our hunting this weekend. So instead of smoking, I've been baking! Made 2 loaves of sourdough bread, Amish Friendship Starter Sticky Buns, Sourdough Blueberry Muffins so far.

I was supposed to get a tracking number emailed to me for the shipment but as of now, I haven't gotten an email. Hoping they might have forgotten to send the email and the shipment is already on its way.

I'm wanting the new Masterbuilt Propane smoker with the thermostat whenever they come out and Rock said he'd build me one of the mini WSM ones when archery season is over. I'm also looking at the Bradley Original 4 rack as well.

Woohoo!!!

Masterbuilt came through! I received the replacement body kit while I was out hunting over the long weekend. BF came home from working a 10 hr day and promptly started to put it together for me (quite the man he is in making me a happy woman). So we fired it up and seasoned it. Temps looked pretty good so today I'll be smoking some Cornish Hens and getting the withdrawals from not being able to smoke under control!

I had the black with SS door, Model 20070211 and they sent the all SS, Model 20070311. Man is that thing all shiny new inside and out.

Cool.....  Now back to some smoke from the "Great State of Colorado"......  (couldn't help myself)

Glad you are back in action.

I have had spotty MB help..but most of the time they were right on it.

I have repaired mine 3 times since I bought it ..but would prolly get another one if it blew up.

It is just right for many kinds of cooking/smoking stuff.

Yes they did come through and are even sending me a cookbook as well for the trouble! I'd probably buy another, although not at the $449 price for the newly designed one, if this one was still down. I can make the best jerky, snack sticks and summer sausage in the MES, one reason I really like it.

The BF is going to build me a door out of sheet metal for the old body and I'll use it as a dedicated cold smoker.

The Cornish Hens have been spatched and are brining as I type this, then I'll rub them and in the smoker! I am such a happy girl to have it working again!!!

We want Qview! We want Qview!

Seriously. I've not done Cornish hens yet. Do you buy them fresh? All I can find are frozen and have to be thawed.

How quickly to they cook? What IT do you shoot for?
