I'm looking to buy some bulk meat (around 50 lbs or so) and am looking for a better deal than I'd get at the grocery store. A local butcher shop has a few "family pack" options listed on their website. Since there are so many different types of cuts here, I'm not sure whether or not this is a good deal. I guess I could go to the grocery store and compare each item, but who's got time for that??? Does this look like a good deal, or should I keep searching?

It would almost be worth spending the time once so you’d know. It works out to $8.58 a pound across the board. I would want to know the weight of the individual cuts. i.e.- are the T bones 16 ounce or 8? And so on. Could make a big difference depending on how they’re divied up. Also, how was the steer raised and finished? Feedlot? Growth hormones, antibiotics, grass fed?

I realize this probably doesn’t help with the decision. Just what I would want to know.

Those are all good things to consider. I'll have to ask those questions. Thanks for the tip.

Why not buy the meat individually as u need it? Unless you live a loooong ways from a store. 8.50 a pound sounds pretty high

I buy all my beef from Rabbits Ranch Beef here in Louisiana. It’s all grass fed and I paid $500ish for a quarter. It all depends on the size of the cow but it’s usually close to that. I would keep shopping though because those prices seem high.
