looking into getting a temp controller for my ok joe highland to make it easier on long cooks. Don’t want to sink a lot of money into it and I’ve been looking at the IQ110. Is the fan on that one strong enough for my offset? Is there a stronger fan available for the IQ110?

This is the fan that I use for my WSM, its a good fan, sometimes the temp controller can get a bit off, where I have it set at 275 and it will say its holding temp but my internal probe says its only at 150. It puts out a pretty good amount of air. Their customer service is really good as well.

Thanks Geebs, I usually try and keep mine between 240-260 so I’m hoping this will be enough air for that

I dont think you should have an issue with it at that temp. You will just have to figure out how yours needs adjusting. I usually have to keep mine 25 degrees higher in order to maintain the temp I want, im sure its just something wrong internally but it doesnt bother me. When you get it and turn it on, turn it all the way up and then all the way down a few times and then go to your desired temp.

Thanks for the tip! I plan on biting the bullet on one in a couple weeks and I’ll keep that in mind

Do u use just charcoal with chunks or chips? That's about the only way I think I would consider using a temp controller with the highland, even then I wouldn't consider it very long. If you are using wood splits only there is no way you will control temps with one and get a clean smoke going. You want a "set it and forget it" charcoal experience get a wsm with a fan, I just don't see the highland doing it. Temp swings are a "normal" part of the offset smoking experience and don't really affect the end result unless it's over 300 for an extended period of time.
