Insulating Firebox and Heat Box

Having a hard time searching here on how I can attach insulation and steel to the firebox and heat box. This is on a trailer and don't want the insulation to drop to bottom creating a hot spot at top. Like to insulate for safety as well as holding heat in conserving fuel and staying cooler on a hot day or cooking in 20 below weather.
Need to know what to use to mount the sheet metal or steel plate to the sides. Will be using 1" insulation. Think rated 2000 degrees.

What kind of insulation? If it's in a flexible batt you can snip some framing nails short, tack weld the heads to one side of the firebox enclosure and impale the batts on the nails.

Attach Z bar to the smoker, add the insulation, attach skin to Z bar....
