So, with the recent membrane debate I decided to test it for myself. I personally have always been one to remove the membrane from my ribs before cooking. Not because of any particular preference, rather just because I was told to. After the recent thread about this, I bought some ribs and cooked them up yesterday, with the membrance on...Oh No! I decided they would not go on the floor. In fact, I think they were possibly the most juicy ribs I have cooked myself. Very good result, despite the fact that they got just slightly over cooked. Didn't even flash them to cook off membrane. Only problem with yesterdays cook was the Amazn jumped from one line to the next so two rows burning at once. At any rate, enjoyed a very good dinner. Here are the shots. Have a great week!

Mustard, rub and into fridge for an overnight sleep.

Into the smoker....

Checking temps and finding the tray smoking a little excessively...ended up no problem.

And a very tasty dinner. I think I will now be a membrane fan!!!

Looks great! Nice job!

I always peel the membrane off. No real reason other than I just don’t prefer it on when I’m eating ribs.

Smoke tray jumped rows because you were overfilled I’m guessing.

Welcome to the dark side. I can't remember the last membrane I pulled off. Ribs look mighty tasty to me.

Point for sure.

Just had some ribs from an award-winning rib joint and the membrane was still there. It doesn't seem to have any impact at all on the "pull" of the pork, or the taste. Other than you can see it there, the ribs taste great and it makes no difference in the final enjoyment.

Thanks...I never really thought about preference..actually, when these were done the membrane was slightly crisp.

Appreciate the point Mr. Vader! They were good, and I am a convert!!

Nice meal. I leave the membrane on and once in a while throw it on high heat for a minute or so.

Looks good! LOVE side by side shootouts like this, wish more people did these than just stirring up debates. I keep membrane on too but it gets zapped by grilling. Dare you try mustard vs no mustard next time.

Thanks. It was good. I contemplated firing up the Weber and flash it off, but got lazy and did not regret it, at least this time. The membrane actually had a little crispness to it.

Great looking ribs but I'm still a no membrane guy. Just don't like the feel in my mouth and if I have to pull it off after the cook may as well do it before the cook. Dry ribs has not been a problem so far. Just another old guy refusing to change. :D
