I asked Lang for a quote from their preferred shipper, and I also asked for dimensions and weight so I could get quotes myself. They ended up just shipping it without my approval for shipping cost and I got a call from a what sounds like a freelance shipper asking for $1,200 cash up on delivery. I suppose there's nothing I can do about it now for that smoker, however, I ordered a second smoker about a week ago, and I was thinking of telling Lang to just hold it so I could pick it up myself (I will be in the state for a bbq class anyway in mid-June).
I figure it would make for good marketing too to drive the smoker across America before sending it overseas for my newly-opening restaurant. Get some American spirit in it before sending it off!
I forgot to mention, point A to B, means Georgia to San Jose, CA (then shipping to Asia).
My question is are there pretty secure places to park a barbecue trailer overnight? If not, I suppose I could have it in a UHaul instead of pulling it on its trailer, but that would mean I couldn't bbq along the way, which would be nice. And I wouldn't be able to take photos of it with American scenery for social media marketing purposes.
