If applying door gasket, is adhesive required as well?

This must be my day for questions. I am also thinking about adding some adhesive backed gasket material to the top section of my horizon door, it leaks very little but I just want to putter. I'm wondering if assuming I follow the degreasing suggestions, if using the adhesive in the backing tape will be enough to stick the gasket, I have read some say it's fine on its own, others say you need the high heat adhesive silicone first, then the peel and stick gasket, any experience from those who have done this would be greatly appreciated. Jason.

I have a feeling that unless you get the surface extremely clean the adhesive backed gasket will come off after a short time. Personally if I were going this route I would use the silicone by itself. Just lay a bead down cover it with plastic wrap close the lid until it cures.

No problem, just remember to take the plastic wrap off after it cures.
