Well this is something that I have been pretty negligent about. But I did a DAT today and included the PSA test. Im probably a little young to worry too much, but on the other hand... why wait. This is now something ill follow up on yearly.Things are looking good for now, but I am under no illusion that this cancer won't recur in the future.
For today I am good and will just count my blessings one day at a time!
Good insurance. Even if you're a little young, the PSA test won't be much out of pocket if your plan won't cover it.Well this is something that I have been pretty negligent about. My uncle was recently diagnosed and apparently its hereditary. Also our hospital does direct access that includes several blood tests all of your own choosing, if you'd like. I paid 100 bucks and it checked a whole bunch of things, cholesterol, uric acid and probably 15 others I can't pronounce or spell. I opted to pay a bit extra for the PSA on this one. But at 100 bucks... ill take that, easyGood insurance. Even if you're a little young, the PSA test won't be much out of pocket if your plan won't cover it.
Prostate cancer is mostly found in older men but isn't really age dependent.
My father had prostate cancer at 45...My uncle was recently diagnosed and apparently its hereditary.
Didn't you also need to pick up a part for your mower or tractor... parts run?My latest PSA test is down to 0.9; just a slight drop from 1.0 back in January. Still going down, so still good.
Now here is where it gets stupid. My doctor's office is an 80 mile round trip with diesel at $5.39/gal. Humana medicare will not pay for a telehealth follow-up visit unless the patient is like in a nursing home, or otherwise incapacitated.
So I had to drive all the way there and back at my expense for the doctor to tell me test results I already knew since they were posted on mychart.
Yeah that sucks, but it part of the fraud mitigation that Humana has adopted to assure you are getting the care the physician is charging. Complain to Humana that their policies cost you a waste of time and money....

I had radiation as well, like you, detected early. If I'd had surgery they said I'd have to stay in the hospital at least a day and maybe two. I would also be restrictred as to how much I could lift for a period of time. Logistically, and mentally, I chose radiation. Maybe I'm different than most but I had no side effects.Been there.. Done that... 32 beam treatments... All is good... PSA is undetectable ...
Good to hear you also had no issue with the radiation. I am early to the prostate cancer party, but trying to consider options when they are needed.I had radiation as well, like you, detected early. Other direction. The PTO shaft broke on my tractor, but Valley Equipment is the closest Mahindra dealer and are just outside of Somerset. Nowhere close to Lexington. The new shaft and seal will be in sometime next week. So another road trip lol.Didn't you also need to pick up a part for your mower or tractor... parts run?

I was offered a $10.00 gas card by the radiation clinic, but I passed. Told them to give it to someone who needed it worse than me.Great news

SBRT. 5 fractions of a high dosage delivered exactly where it needs to go. Cyber Knife is the most well known machine, but The Elekta Versa HD is what they used on me. Both machines are linear accelerators and pretty much do the same thing.@FrMitch and @DougE what is the name of the radiation procedure you guys had? I have a follow up appointment in a couple weeks and would like to get my urologists thoughts on it and maybe a referral. mine is in "active observation" but the symptoms are all there. Kinda dont like knowing its growing me.
I hope the damage was minimal when it let go.Other direction. The PTO shaft broke on my tractor,
...
Probably going to be a blast to replace it.
