I may have just landed on one of my winter/spring smoking high points.
I've been wanting to do another one of these since my birthday smoke in December '09. My wife and I went for the afternoon today to run some errands and check out a few sales...check this out:
Kind of hard to read...it's not what the label reads either.
19.96 lb:
21.78 lb:
Laying on my Smoke Vault 24's grate, which seemed a "fitting" place for it's final resting and transformation...someday soon, I hope:
The guy at the meat dept. said the whole trimmed roasts weren't part of the sale, but he said he could pull a string or 2...notice he labeled them as steak, not roast...he's a cool dude!!!!!! Heh-heh-heh!!!!!!!
I will patiently, but anxiously await the day when I get to pull one from the freezer for another special occasion.
My wife gave me the thumbs up on getting them after we ooggled them for a few seconds, remembering the first one I smoked up, then, it didn't take us long to lock eyes and smile, so we pulled the trigger!!!!!!!
I will of course share the next one with all my good friends here on SMF. The plan for smoking will be very similar to the last just to see the repeatability of the flour method, etc., as the first was experimental, but VERY good eating. Man that's gonna be another fun day in the thin blue smoke!!!
Until then, my good friends!
