I haven't done smoked fish for quite a while myself. Hoping to get after some big pike yet this winter.
Not sure where you are at in ND but if you ever want to get out after some let me know and we can meet up. If you don't have much for pole or tackle don't worry because I got more than enough to share.
Not a lot that I'm missing for gear.( so I've been told 😉)

My younger son and I have been out a few times this season.
We've let dozens of does and small bucks walk, but not last night.
Last night was the first hunt of what was supposed to be a 3 day trip, it got cut short with one well placed shot.
My son took this 185lb, 11pt at 105 yards while it was trotting after a doe, he was facing away and moving uphill, he slowed and turned a bit when a smaller buck tried to follow... BANG!
A .308 150gr JSP fired from a Savage 110 dropped his ass in his tracks.

My son was elated at both the buck, which is a really good one for South Bama, and his shot.
The decision was made to get this one mounted, son is getting a left turn, semi-sneak with the ears alert and wide eyes.
No freezer room and warmer temps meant that we left this morning to get this guy to the taxidermy man immediately.
Cut the trip short, but it's worth it for my son's new trophy.

Got to love a good Perch Pile.
Been loving these 44in light and ultra light rods, especially fishing outside.
First outing of the season at a little go to lake yesterday, had it all to myself. Got my limit and decided to call it quits to get home at a decent time and met a father with his little boy coming out to see if they can get a few bites, pointed them to my 2 productive holes and they headed over to them, maybe I will run into them again and see how they did. 9-10" average
