If you don't mind a "Yankee" asking, what is the problem with bobcats? I know they are a predator but are they invasive like feral hogs?
Great question! Bobcats, unlike feral hogs, are NOT invasive. They are native predators across much of North America, including my 123 acres in central Missouri.

I manage my land for recreation ... hunting, fishing, beekeeping, and wildlife habitat through practices like Timber Stand Improvement (TSI/FSI), edge feathering, pond/lake management, prescribed fires, 12 acre$ of food plot$, and 7 acres of native grasses and native prairie plants. These efforts have successfully created a thriving ecosystem.

However, without natural checks like large predators or historical fur trapping, bobcat and coyote populations have grown unchecked, except for the occasional roadkill. This can disrupt the balance we aim for on the property. Following guidance from my State of Missouri - Private Land Conservation Agent, I’ve implemented selective trapping to manage their numbers. The result ... healthier, larger animals due to less competition for food resources resulting in a balanced and vibrant wildlife population.

. Following guidance from my State of Missouri - Private Land Conservation Agent,
That's the ticket right there . They know what's out there , and how to maintain a natural balance .
I was going to seminars at the local Coop put on by Purina farms and MCD . One thing that stuck with me is 1 coyote kills up to 3 deer a year .

I have pics and videos of coyotes running off with fawns firmly clamped into their jaws...

There are probably more than you realize because they're so elusive and wary. Those eyes and ears don't miss much. Years ago while bowhunting deer from a lock-on type tree stand, I came to full draw on one just to see if I could. Didn't take the shot, though, because I was waiting on 'Muy Grande'. The only thing I think is harder to draw on is a turkey...

im sure there are. the same with badgers. people are amazed to hear they are around here. had a friend tell me he had a groundhog destroying his shed. hug pile of dirt and an oval hole. i said thats no groundhog brotha. lol they are protected in this state so i had to leave it. he ended up chaining two pitbulls by the hole for 2 weeks and the badger moved out. lmao

Not a bad haul for opening morning.

Got a real nice buck showing up the last few weeks, got pic's on him in shooting light a couple times. Also have a few other nice bucks running around as well as out doe population is coming back slowly, the winter we had 3yrs ago probably wiped out 65-75% of our population. Just fun to see the numbers coming back and they are all pretty healthy bodied

My brother in law came up for a visit and some fishing. The first pic is him with his biggest pike to date, 26". There are much bigger pike in the reservoirs up here but tend to cut the 20 lb fluorocarbon leaders if not hooked just right. He was pretty proud of the fish, though. The second pic is of me with a 22" cuttbow, a hybrid between a cutthroat and rainbow. I didn't have my scale I would guess 5 lbs +/-. Again, not the biggest trout in the water but sure was a pretty fish that put up a good fight.

We caught about a dozen pike, all hammer handles, and about a dozen trout for 15" to 22". Went out about 8 times in all. Best news is we didn't lose a single lure to the pike!
