New guy here, and to smoking meat for the most part. I’ve had a propane smoker that I gave a few (seriously) goes in the past, with different results. I really had a hard time regulating temperature so I officially upgraded to a Masterbuilt electric. As a wild game hunter I feel it’s almost a duty that I’ve delayed for too long learning. Help me learn my way through the smoke!

Buy a good thermo to keep track of your smokers temp and your meat temp. The masterbuilt smokers cannot be trusted.

Scott

I did buy a thermo for the meat, but I was relying on the temp of the display for the smoker itself. I might have to invest in another one for just that then.

Welcome to the site, most factory installed therms on smokers are off. The only redeeming possibility is if they're consistent. At least that way you can use it as a gauge will doing yard work.
