Two things marked me old for now, Just turned 50, No1 My 15 yr old daughter destroyed me in an arm wrestle. She is a swimmer and I have always thought i was doing ok but man she is sooo strong I am still feeling it.
No 2, Here in Aus when you turn 50 the gov send you a bowel cancer screening kit which as you may have figured means you have to send to very very small samples in the post to have it checked. I am in the clear but that will come from them every two years from now on.

Woo Hoo

I swing my legs up and use the momentum to get out of bed....

I *may* have once (ok, at least twice) experienced crippling back spasms while reaching around to wipe my azz...

Desk jobs can be just as, if not more, detrimental to your body over the years if you don't exercise properly.

Ha! I just bought a pair of those Sketchers slip-in shoes; the kind with the built-in shoe horn. I liked them so much, I bought a pair for each of my parents, too.
I have some Sketchers and New Balance muies. It's all I wear around the house. Slip on and if easy and better support than slippers to keep the plantar fascitis away.

Love my sketchers also! I swear some nights I get taller... sure seems tough to get my socks on some mornings so slip on shoes are wonderful!
Motorcycle accident as a kid didn't help... dang German shepherd that ran out in front of me was as tall as my motorcycle, sent me on down the highway... no helmet so luckily I'm still alive. And very glad the neighbors wife was home and took me to the Dr.
Car accident and whiplash wasn't much of any help either! Then add in raising pigs and loading fat hogs for the last 26 years... about 260,000 of them... not sure why I get stiff and sore.

At 57 I'm apparently a youngster around here, but like many my brain thinks I'm still 12, maybe 13 on a good day. My last job was quite labor intensive at times, and a lot of the active duty kids were not quite sure if they wanted to mess with me as I brought it every day, but my new job is pretty slack and it's starting to show. I stay active, outdoors in the warmer months.. kayaking etc etc, and winter time is prime metal detecting weather. Lotsa walking up and down hills bending kneeling digging but I'm starting to feel it. I think the true indicator of age was the day I bought Metamucil and had a frank discussion about it with a friend :emoji_laughing:
Any extraordinary metal detecting finds over the years? I like to poke around in our woods but short of old pieces of farm implements, nothing of interest. I have a Bounty Hunter detector, may I ask what you use?

Back was really bad in my 20's and early 30's, but found a chiropractor that knew his physiology really well. Discovered my sprained ankle hadn't gone back in place from 10 years earlier. Put ankle back in place and only a few flair ups since then.

Paying for years of aggressive down hill skiing with my knees. Ever have a Baker Cyst rupture? Wow does that hurt doesn't begin to describe the pain. Baker Cyst is where the cushioning fluid from your knee slowly leaks and is encapsulated in your lower leg tissue. The encapsulation breaks and the fluid floods your muscle tissue. I'll repeat. That is the worst pain I have ever endured. That includes a broken hand, a broken rib, and 6 broken toes

Last stupid thing was out working ground and a rain shower passed thru. Not enough to stop working ground, but the dust and chaf coated the windows of the tractor cab. Got out to use the squeegee and clean the windows. Slipped on wet steel around the cab and luckily caught myself before leg went where they shouldn't and body in opposite direction.
I banged a shin really hard on the frame. The bone bruise swelling is just starting to go down after 5 months.

66 now and hoping to keep things going enough to keep farming in the summer and relaxing in the winter until at least 70 or more.

Man that’s tough Dan.
64 here with pinched nerve in my neck and have avoiding surgery for 10 yrs but can't wait much longer. It's affecting my bass playing with numbing, tingling in left arm. Hurts my back to sneeze and feel like 1 fart away from being paralyzed 😄
Moved houses over Christmas and definitely realized my limitations!

Keith
Brutal Kieth, I'm having the same issue playing guitar right now. The weakness and numb, tingling down my arm and hand suck bad.
The torn muscle is brutal, and I have the flu right now, the coughing is KILLING me, it feels like I am being stabbed each time I cough, which is pretty constant for the past 4 days. Right now I can't make a bar chord sound worth a squirt, so I'm playing one finger power chords in drop D just to get my aggressions out...lol
Getting old sucks!!!
No wonder why old men are so grumpy, hang in there.

I just bought a new Ron Chapman Baritone to mess around with, and I can't even play it right now because of the longer neck.:emoji_disappointed:

We target civil war relics, and I've got a few items like minded folks would call pretty cool. Extraordinary might be a stretch. Got a crap ton of minie balls, a really nice confederate block i button and some buckles and box plates etc... found some old silver reales also. I use an XP Deus II, and also have a regular Deus and a Garrett AT Max.

That's awesome! I bought mine specifically to search for civil war artifacts but no such luck as of yet. Thanks for the info!

"Bah! Humbug!" My 86-year old friend just messaged me about this year's skiing adventure. He's simply saying that this(!) year he might choose "different slopes."

As for us, having spent many years hiking through the Grand Canyon [corridor ...] at least twice a year, we are impatiently waiting for the trans-canyon pipeline to be fixed.

While I perfectly well know that "the Angel" will eventually come, We intend for His arrival to be an interruption!
