how to store smoked butt for a few hours

Hey everyone,
got a family picnic tomorrow at about 2:30. The butt is most likely gonna be done by 10. Then I'll leave it wrapped, but is it okay to leave it wrapped in tinfoil and in a cooler from 10 until 2:30, or what shiuld I do?

Double foil wrapped, then wrapped in old towels, in a cooler with towels added on top to take up any empty cooler space for added insulation. Should still be steaming hot when removed from the cooler 4 hours later.

You can not put a time on how long it will take a large piece of meat to get to temp, but after it is done the meat has plenty of time to serve it using this method.

Have done this many times with great success. Make sure to fill all the voids in the cooler

Meat is now double wrapped in tinfoil, wrapped in a towel, in a cooler with 3 other towels filling in. Il take it out in about 4 hours, pull and chow. Thanks for your help!

I like to leave my probe in if it's going to be in the cooler a while.  It'll usually hold for several hours, even upwards of 6 before your in danger of getting back down to 140 at which time you'll want to pull and if you still have a while before serving I've had good success pulling and putting in a crock pot on low.  Add some of your juices or some apple juice in the crock to keep things moist and stir often.

I try not to go long in the cooler (more than a couple hours) myself because it always seems to get a little more mushy beyond a few hours, IMHO.
