I know Hobart is a high end commercial grade slicer. I know nothing more than that about them. How much is a good used 12" auto feed Hobart slicer worth these days?
Been to long, so I ain't even gonna guess a price. But the auto feed is what used ta give us fits when they got wore an was a pain ta repair. Ya just may wanna look at that an make sure it works properly. An yup hobart is good stuff.
I used to think $600 to $800 dollars. To be honest I've seen them priced all over the range, few hundred to over a grand plus. Auto feed even more, then of course age, parts avail, etc. all play a role.
I agree the year and shape makes a big difference, I would consider nearly any nice shape fully working 12" auto hobart under $1000 a score, I have seen them pull that much at auctions with known carriage problems. Unless you find a sucker most 12" manual hobarts are gonna be worth $1000, most serious slicer people consider hobart to be the very best, berkel and glode a downgrade LOL
$400 for a Hobart slicer is a good deal if it works and is not ancient (meaning you can still get parts!)
I have been watching craigslist and several restaurant auction sites for a while now looking for a deal on one. At auction they go for $1200 and up depending on the model.
If you're asking about the one in the pic in your other post that is one of the ones we used in most restaurants.
Brand new I would think that model would go for around $1,000 give or take a few hundred bucks.
They even have brand new fancy Hobart's that are auto feed that cost up to $7,000
Now that is just a bit excessive for a slicer!
I guess I haven't seen the $7000 model... I assume those have the scale with auto shut-off etc.; the only way I could get away with that would be to tell my wife about it while she is getting a massage on the beach in some tropical paradise...and even then it might get ugly!!
