I have seen where some people do that, I was wondering about the benifit. I bought a bag at lowes the other day and tossed a couple pieces in the pan to see what happened, and I thought the smell of the smoke was great, I have also heard this will improve you smoke ring.

just curious

yall have a good week

I don't have a gosm, but on my little R.O. electric that I use sometimes I do add lump to the wood pan. It does help with the smoke ring.

I can use quite a bit of lump in mine!!

By adding a couple of chunks of lump along with the wood in the woodbox, you'll end up with a nicer smokering. Just remember to put the charcoal in the bottom of the box.

I would assume you are speaking of a Propane GOSM? I converted my charcoal GOSM to Propane and do add some coals, lump or briquettes, to a coffee can, along with wood for my smokes.

I use lump in mine all the time i use grill wok on bottom with hickory and pecan chunks and chips...I use the gas burner to start the lump
