Since I recently got addicted to this hobby after building a homebrew "gasser" (still tweeking and making changes) but I recently ran across a deal for a used 40" MES for $150.00.

I was just wondering if pehaps should I add a MES and a stick burner to the stable?

I have been tinkering with the making a small stickburner, all the ones I see look like they are pretty good size.

I only have 2 1/2.
My original was a Brinkman Gourmet Electric (which now holds the door to my sNp closed tightly and holds burnt wood), my sNp (love it!) and the 1/2 is an oven I am converting into a smoker that has been sitting half done for some time now, I really need to get back on it.
I love my sNp and will always be sure to have a smoker with a sfb, but I'm next planning on a 40" MES, only ones I can get around here are 30" so still looking.
All those beautiful smokes RonP does in his MES it has to be a great smoker.

I have two...made both of them. The first is a vertical cabinet and the second is a large trailer mounted stick burning reverse flow. Both are double walled and insulated. The cabinet worked so well, I made another one for my Brother who absolutely loves it...he mothballed his WSM once I gave it to him. The stick burner is new to my arsenal, and I'm just getting ready to slap some paint on it. Only cooked on it twice so far.

I am a firm believer that you need a few tools so you can choose the right one for each situation.

Got 2 operational, two in the build process, one in the design stage an untold others lurkin in the back a my head!

My signature lines tell most of my story...I'm sure I'm not done expanding just yet...I'm starting to slow down a bit and work on the best ways to cook the different entrees I've perfected thus far (charcoal fired, or gas fired, foiled/unfoiled, etc).

Decisions, decisions...sigh...aah, it's all in great day's smokin'!

May the thin blue smoke follow you often!

Eric

2 here. A Stumps vertical 7 rack model and a Traeger 125. Both turn out great food and both are super easy to use, just wish the Traeger was insulated.

I'm still pondering that The Sausage Maker smoker in Mandan. It is still avaiable and he told me he would take $110. Hope you do not beat me to it (It appears to be a buy) !!!

Dpends on how you choose to look at it.

The CGSP is obviously a smoker.

The Weber kettle is also known to turn out some fine smoked product. The Weber gas grill can also do the job with some modification, but I only use it as a griller with smoke chip addition.

So I'll claim two smokers.

Thanks Man, yes it allows me to smoke on demand very cheap to opererate also.

Sort of what I was thinking, a set and forget and 150.00.

Don't get me wrong, I like the way my gasser turned out, and I can put a bunch a foood spread out in there.

I may be leaning toward a second one and try to figure out where to put it later.

Thanks Ron

In addition to those in my signature, i have 2 charcoal ecb, 1 electric ecb, and 1 small propane ecb , all of which are buried in storage in the garage..

They haven.t been used in years, keep planning on diging them out and giving them away.
